AdSense revenue sites are generally disliked by search engines such as Google and Yahoo because they are created exclusively to display ads. These types of sites are normally only built to generate revenue and because of this they are often not attractive sites, containing only a minimal amount of relevant information.

So these sites can serve a useful function, in a way, and act as gateways between the search engines and a surfer’s eventual site of interest.

AdSense revenue sites are relatively easy to build. Basically they are created around a popular subject, for example fishing. Then using something like the Google’s Adwords keyword search tool, deeper, rarely used keyword combinations relating to the general theme are found. These keywords are by no means popular, they can be as far flung as ‘fishing anglers on the Cornish coast’ or ‘ancient fishing techniques’. These are the kind of phrases that are focused on within the pages of these AdSense revenue sites. Material from other websites is then compiled to make the content of the pages in question. The sources are normally used, rang from material from articles sites to using RSS and blog feeds.

The highly specific nature of these keyword combinations often ensure that the pages of these websites gets a top place ranking on any search engine result. But their rarity counters this benefit and they usually attract the most minimal traffic. However, they make their money from their share bulk. These sites can, on average contain something in the region of a thousand pages. Combined all these pages can attract thousands of hits a month.

 

Their success comes from their large sizes

And if we include the possibility that any one individual using this technique may have anything close to 10 different sites of the same size, you can imagine the amount of traffic that goes through all their sites combined.
These websites can sometimes have click-through- rates of 1% (this is not extravagant if we recognize that the ads displayed on these sites are highly relevant to the keyword phrases that describe their pages). If such a site attracts a thousand hits a day, it would with a CTR of 1% get about 100 clicks a day. That is a hundred a month and estimate that a cost-per-click is in the low range of $0.10 the site would be generating $300.00 per month.
With just 10 of these sites that would make it $3000.00 a month, and that is quite a generous AdSense income by anyone’s standards.

 

Are AdSense revenue sites an option?

It sounds extremely attractive doesn’t it? But if you decide to take this option be warned, you will not be working with Google, you will be working against them and you will be cheating.
Basically you will be creating the very junk, that Google is trying to filter out the World-Wide-Web. You wouldn’t be creating original, informative material. You wouldn’t be displaying it in new attractive ways. What you would be doing is cluttering up the system and spamming the search engines. Also how do you generate sites filled with thousands of pages? It cannot be done in realistic period of time. You’d have to cheat, that’s how. You’d have to automate the system of creating pages.

Google are aware of the existence of these websites. In the past they have wiped out doorway pages (which were older forms of this idea), in an attempt to purge their directories of these types of sites.

These sites can only be temporary, though potentially lucrative, they cannot be a proper pathway for those hoping to use AdSense to generate long term revenue. 

To finish, I’d like to emphasize that to really make use of AdSense, Webmasters have to work within Google’s overall ethos. They need to understand it and possibly respect it and accept that they have to contribute positively in Google’s’ aim of distributing relevant and useful information.
