What to do with AdSense keyword analysis

Having your list of keywords prepares you for the search engines. It lays the foundation for your AdSense venture and gives you the confidence you need to follow your ideas through to completion.

You can use the information anyway you want

But how you decide to use the information you gathered is up to you. Nothing about the process is written in stone. You may decide to pursue a topic that is completely saturated (according to the figures) or build a website around an extremely obscure theme, the choice is yours. Don't focus too much on single keywords especially those that are particularly popular. Try and focus the pages on your website on long-tail keyphrases. Two word combination keywords are ideal but good three word combinations can also be in sufficient demand to warrant special attention.
But ultimately, what you should aim to do is put your carefully researched AdSense keywords into well written content for your site.

AdSense research figures gives you important information

Keywords are what search engines look for and use to catalogue your web pages. The figures you gathered about them informs you of how things are within the World-Wide-Web relating to your chosen theme.

In fact researched keywords gives you the ammunition you need to tackle the search engines and prepare your website for the marketing stage of your AdSense project. Good keywords are the key to success on the Web, bringing both clicks and traffic. But GOOD keywords are hard to find, whereas bad keywords are easy to uncover but results in your site dissappearing into obscurity.

Diagram showing the keyword conundrum. Generic keywords like Gardening has a lot of traffic but too much competition.

Whereas Indoor Hydroponic Gardening Sponges has little traffic but no competition.

The secret to keyword success is to find the middle ground between the two extremes, which is often a specific two to three keyword combination based on a larger theme.

Conversion rates also tend to be much higher for slightly more specific well put together AdSense sites. This is because these websites deliver exactly what is expected of them and the ads they contain also reflects the same level of specificity.

A note of caution about your results

Some keyword search tools extrapolate their results from a small sample of searches. So don't put too much credence to search frequencies that are less than 1,000. If you need some data about keywords that have low demand figures, you may have to draw the information from data collected over a period of three months or so.

Even though, the figures are not going to be 100% accurate, they give you an approximate feel of what’s hot and what’s not. It gives you an idea of the type of keywords to focus your content around. It also draws you attention to potentially profitable AdSense keywords.

Importantly, optimizing your website (or blog) gives you more control on the type of AdSense ads Google delivers to you. The more focused your keywords, the more relevant your ads and the more likely a visitor will click.
