Remember that we are attempting to find a niche topic within the general theme of ‘health and fitness’ that we could use to create an informative yet profitable AdSense site. So we need to weed out the over-saturated, low profitability topics.
We use the 'allinanchor' to streamline the competition
To do this we need to use the ‘allinanchor’ Google operator which focuses on the keywords present in the text links that users click on to move from one website to another. To perform an ‘allinanchor’ search all you need to do is enter: ‘allinanchor:keyword phrase’ (keyword phrase can be any term) into Google’s search box. We can now use this technique to fill in the supply column of our spreadsheet.
Keyword Opportunity Index (KOI) and Keyword Potential Index (KPI)
The last sets of values are calculated from the data that you collected about your theme of choice and reflect the opportunity that each researched keyword presents. The higher the value the better the keyword.
This value was first proposed by David Viney and it is calculated by squaring the demand value (D) and dividing the result with its corresponding supply value (S). The formula to calculate KOI is D²/S (see Keyword calculator). We then use this value to calculate the Keyword Potential Index (KPI) for both Google and WordTracker demand. And we do this by using the formula Log (KOI)*2. For more about KPI go to Keyword Potential Index.
After assessing the keywords with the best KPI values we then produce this final shorlist of fitness and health related terms:

The final column of results is created from the demand figures of both WordTracker and Google and it is basically an average of both values. This way of doing keyword research is much more thorough than those that are reliant on just one keyword tool. It gives more validity to your final keyword results by balancing out any possible discrepancies in either final results.
From the list any keywords with average values above 6.0 KPI can be considered as possible AdSense themes. However, these results are still a little rough around the edges. For them to be really useful they still need a little fine-tuning.
